Storms slam Southwest Riverside County
MENIFEE – (INT) – A pre-sunrise storm packing lightning, rain and hail swept through Southwest Riverside County Wednesday.

Grape-sized hail broke windshields at Menifee covering the ground nearly white. Half-inch hail clattered down on Perris.

Southern California Edison said that lightning targeted power poles interrupting electricity to 3,000 of its customers.

Rainfall ranged up to one-third of an inch at Hemet and Murrieta.

Mike Watkins at the National Weather Service says the storms will be hit-and-miss and should end by Thursday.

“But keep an eye out for thunderstorms throughout Southern California with hydroplaning on the roads.”

The Highway Patrol at Banning reports a truck overturned on rain-slick Interstate 10 blocking several lanes. There were no serious injuries.

The weather system creating all the excitement is sliding down the coast and will exit the Southland by Friday.
