Clean-up volunteers sweep up in San Bernardino
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – Some of the city’s most crime-ridden neighborhoods are getting special attention.

Dozens of volunteers spread out through a 20-block area Saturday cleaning up vacant lots.

Sandra Espadas of the Institute for Public Strategies was the project leader.

“We are trying to address some of the problems in the community related to crime and violence that’s tied to blight around vacant lots and abandoned homes.

Dumpsters were made available for residents who joined in to clean-up their own yards.

Saturday’s 6-hour sweep is the second of at least three being done this year in San Bernardino.
