Fires in San Gabriel mountains near containment
AZUSA – (INT) – Five-hundred fire fighters are closing the noose on two wildfires in the Angeles National Forest.

The biggest, dubbed the Tecolote Fire, has been downsized to 275 acres. It’s been stopped in the East Fork of San Gabriel Canyon north of here. Campgrounds in the area remain evacuated.

The Shoemaker Fire above Claremont is nearly contained at 190 acres. Two firefighters have been hurt.

The Forest Service has not issued the cause of either fire.
