Killer in home invasion robbery sentenced
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – A second no-parole prison term was handed down Tuesday for a 2005 home invasion that left a 90-year-old woman dead.

Michael Mitchell, Jr. was denied a new trial before a Superior Court judge sentenced him. Mitchell will join Kiesha Smith for a life behind bars.

Prosecutors said the two ransacked and stole jewelry and foreign coins from a San Bernardino home where Josephine Kelley lived with her daughter.

Kelley was bound with audio cords and masking tape and a pillowcase put over her head.

A third defendant, Sherry Beck, took a plea bargain and testified against her co-defendants.
