Vallejo shares earthquake damage
VALLEJO - Swanky, wine-sniffing Napa isn't the only city picking up the pieces from Sunday's earthquake. Blue-collar Vallejo is cleaning up and repairing.

Damage in the largest city in Solano County is estimated at $5.2 million. Forty-nine people were injured, and two remain hospitalized.

In Napa, City Manager Mike Parness says damage assessment is moving ahead.

"Virtually all of the properties in our city have power. The only ones that do not are the buildings that are red-tagged. They will be restored as soon as the city certifies they are ready for occupancy."

Meantime, the aftershocks keep coming.

The biggest danger in earthquake-prone California are the very structures where people live, shop, worship and educate their children. Thousands of structures are potential traps in an earthquake - and there's disagreement on how to fix the problem. (Source: San Francisco Chronicle)
