Early signs of weather shift to autumn mode
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Summer is winding down on a mild-mannered note.

Monsoon storms made their mark on the Inland Empire the past two months.

There haven’t been any prolonged heat waves with few consecutive days over 100 degrees.

Matt Shameson at the Riverside weather office notes that August temperatures in the Metro area averaged a little below normal. Monsoon storms pushed rainfall above normal in many communities.

With the monsoon season all but over, Shameson says a more autumn-like pattern is setting up.

“Blow-normal temperatures are likely beginning Wednesday and lasting for a week or so,” Shameson predicted.

The first Santa Ana winds aren’t expected until later in the month.
