Terrorism expert sees US in ‘precarious’ move against ISIS
SAN BERNARDINO - (INT) – As the US edges toward military action against the Islamic state ISIS, the question becomes how much does Washington want to get involved in a sectarian battle where it looks like diplomatically and politically that the US is taking sides.

Brian Levin, Director of the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at Cal State-San Bernardino, says the US may find itself between a rock and a hard place "with two competing interests. On the one hand, we don’t want to get too close to Syria and its allied state Iran. But on the other hand, ISIS is now a regional and a terrorist threat, for that area.”

President Obama is prepared to use U.S. military air strikes in Syria and Iraq as part of an expanded campaign to defeat the Islamic State.
