Heat wave peaking, Tropical Storm Odile sweeps up Baja
SOUTHLAND - (INT) - There are signs the year’s most intense heat wave is peaking as slight day-to-day cooling kicks in beginning Monday and continues through the work week.

Attention will shift to Tropical Storm Odile which will pump monsoon moisture into Southern California. Showers and thunderstorms could become more widespread beginning Wednesday.

An intense dome of high pressure has resulted in a heat advisory that is likely to persist until late Tuesday.

Odile is taking a more inland path over Baja California than its predecessor Norbert. Remnants of Odile will blunt the heat, but could bring an encore to the recent storms that triggered scattered flash flooding from the Metro area into the deserts.

Isolated afternoon mountain thundershowers are possible before Odile’s plume of moisture arrives the middle of the week.
