Year's hottest weather bakes Southland; Hurricane storms up Baja coast
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – If the 5-day heat wave isn’t enough, Southern California weather will take on some added features this work week.

Hurricane Odile is the elephant in the room. It has built winds topping 125 miles an hour as it moves up the coast of Baja California. It will dissipate before crossing the Mexican border, but could ignite two days of scattered showers and thunderstorms across the Southland later in the week.

Monsoon moisture is already filtering into Southern California. A short-lived severe thunderstorm warning was issued Sunday afternoon for an area from Lake Hemet to Sage in Riverside County.

It’s the heat everyone is complaining about. Sunday was the hottest day of the year. Temperatures eclipsed the century mark throughout the Metro area. Repeat triple digits are likely through Tuesday.

Highs Sunday:
Riverside 108
San Bernardino 106
Ontario 108
Lake Elsinore 108
Menifee 108
Moreno Valley 107
Palm Springs 109

People with the following symptoms should try to remain in a cool place and drink water to prevent dehydration:

* Headache
* Dizziness
* Weakness or muscle pains
* Nausea and vomiting
