Silverado Canyon fire nearly surrounded
SILVERADO CANYON - (INT) - More than a thousand firefighters have managed to contain the 968 acre Silverado Canyon wildfire.

No homes have been damaged.

Mandatory evacuation orders have been lifted. Residents only may access their residences utilizing Silverado Canyon Road; however, Silverado Canyon Road at Santiago Canyon Road will remain closed for non-residents.

Because of the steep, nearly inaccessible terrain and afternoon temperatures near 100, the fire fighting effort is most effective from the air.

The fire was said to have been accidentally started.
