San Bernardino County ranks high in homeless students
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – Homelessness is a chronic problem for many in the Inland Empire and it crosses all age groups.

Nearly 34,000 K-12 students in San Bernardino County were listed as ‘homeless’ during the 2012-13 academic year.

The California Homeless Youth Project found that the county ranked fifth highest among California’s counties in the homeless student population.

The report defined students as homeless if they lack ‘fixed, regular and adequate’ nighttime lodging at any point during the school year.

Students were found staying with friends, in motels or homeless shelters.
