NorCal fire fights peak, rain forecast
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – The magic number is down to four as over 8,200 firefighters struggle to surround the last of Northern California’s big wildfires.

The King Fire east of Sacramento is now one-third contained. But, it’s still a threat to 12,000 homes.

A Red Flag Warning for gusty winds and a high fire danger covers parts of Modoc County down the Sierra Nevada range to Tuolumne County. Strong winds with gusts of up to 40mph are possible. Those winds will increase the fire risk and could push the King Fire further north.

Weather conditions are predicted to change. Cooler temperatures and even rain is likely across Northern California. That should help firefighters in their efforts toward containment.
