Train trestles cross 215 freeway
GRAND TERRACE – (INT) – The last of four train trestles were put in place across the 215 freeway this weekend.

Justin Murphy is the General Manager for the bridge fabricator.

“The final stage is a one-night closure in which we spin the bridge out above the freeway and set it in place and erect the entire structure in one night,” Murphy said.

Each 200-foot span weighs a million pounds.

The trestles will carry BNSF and Metrolink trains between Riverside and San Bernardino.

Route 215 will be closed Friday night for the final placement.
