Engine failure cripples Jet Blue flight
LONG BEACH – (INT) – One-hundred-forty-nine people won’t soon forget Thursday’s heart rending minutes aboard a Jet Blue fight.

It had just taken off enroute to Austin, Texas when a popping sound filled the cabin with smoke.

One passenger recalled looking out the window.

“There were flames coming from the right engine and seconds later smoke covered the entire cabin.”

The pilot shut down the one engine and diverted the fight back to the Long Beach Airport. Passengers used emergency chutes onto the tarmac.

Four people suffered minor injuries.
