Unemployment rate declines as schools reopen
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – The region’s joblessness reversed a 2-month increase coming in at 8.7 percent during August.

The State Department of Employment Development (EDD) said Friday that Riverside and San Bernardino counties added 9,900 jobs in August. Many schools reopened putting teachers back to work.

Full-service restaurants lost 900 jobs. On the other hand, retail trade added 700 while transportation and warehousing rose by 900.

A year ago, the Inland Empire’s jobless rate was running at 10.5 percent.
