CRESTLINE – (INT) - Witnesses say a ‘chaotic’ traffic situation developed Monday after two vehicles collided on Highway 18 below Crestline.

The grinding, head-on crash of two SUV’s claimed the lives of both drivers.

Walter Kovacs, 77, of Lake Arrowhead and Anna Trucks-Fivgas, 22, of Running Springs perished. But, county fire officials say a 3-year-old girl survived and is being treated at Children’s Hospital of Loma Linda.

The crash at the 3,000 foot level of the mountain highway was opened 5-hours after the mishap.
