Property taxes shift into higher gear RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Now that property values are increasing, so are property taxes.
That’s being reflected in the annual tax bills that are hitting mailboxes across the Inland Empire. County auditor-appraiser Michele Martinez-Barrera says thousands of homeowners got some tax relief during the recession’s housing bust. “People had seen their property tax bills go down because their assessed values went down.” But with the economy perking up, things are in reverse. Property owners are warned that some will see more than the 2-percent maximum increase on their bills for the tax year 2014-15. Story Date: October 21, 2014
