Jury deadlocks in Mike Rios shooting case
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – A Superior Court jury could not decide a self-defense issue in the trial of former Moreno Valley school board member Mike Rios.

The jury deadlocked Friday and the trial judge ordered Rios to return December 3rd for the setting of a second trial.
Prosecutors will decide whether to retry their case.

The jury was split in favor of acquittal Friday. Prosecutors will decide whether to retry their case.

Rios maintains that he returned home one night in February 2012 after an argument with two men at a nightclub, was confronted by the pair and shot at. Investigators contradicted his story saying that Rios had fired at a vehicle. There were no injuries.

Rios was forced to give up his school board seat and sentenced to prison in an unrelated case of pimping, pandering and insurance fraud.
