Dwindling reservoirs attest to state's drought
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – It doesn’t take much to understand why California is so worried about drought. Reservoirs are ever-dwindling. Rainfall is sporadic at best.

California’s Chief Hydrologist Maury Roos says the huge Lake Oroville Reservoir has dropped to a near-record low point.

“The fall of 1977 was a severe 2-year drought and Oroville was at a record low.”

More than 80 percent of California is in extreme drought---according to the U.S. Drought Monitor --- and the state’s condition is not expected to improve in the near future.

2011 was the last year the California drought map was clear.
