RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Holiday shoppers want to know who has the best markdowns.

The personal finance analyst WalletHub scanned the ads of 21 of the biggest U.S. retailers for more than 5,000 so-called deals. It found that JC Penney, Macy’s and Rite Aide were at the top of the list.

“Jewelry” was the most discounted category at 58%. “Electronics & Computers” were the least discounted at 30%.

UC Riverside Professor of Personal Finance Barry Mishra says shopping habits are changing.

“A lot of people will shop from home. CyberMonday is catching up with Black Friday as more and more people move to online shopping.”

Retailers are getting a jump start on the year-end holidays because there are fewer shopping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Some stories are opening their doors Thanksgiving night rather than waiting until Black Friday.
