Victim of suicide-by-train identified RIVERSIDE – (INT) – A young man is dead after stepping in front of an oncoming freight train.
The coroner says that Juan Aguilar, 24, of Riverside was seen walking toward the BNSF tracks near Harrison Street Saturday night. Police are calling the incident a suicide. Last week, Metrolink is was stepping up an anti-suicide campaign. During 2012, there were 19 suicides-by-train on Metrolink’s system. Posters reading “Reach Out….There Is Help” have directed dozens of people to a crisis hotline. Metrolink Board Chairman Larry McCallon, who is mayor of Highland, said “There is help long before getting near our tracks or trains." Story Date: November 27, 2014
