HOLLYWOOD - (INT) - The entertainbment industry has been sadden by the passing of acclaimed director Mike Nichols.

Nichols teamed with Elaine May in a satirical comedy team in the late 1950's. But, Nichols' true calling came behind the camera as director of the landmark films “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” and “The Graduate.”

Nichols, was married to television anchor and reporter Diane Sawyer. Nichols suffered a cardiac arrest at his home in New York and died at age 83.
