Pot laws for patients vs. growers debated
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – County supervisors took initial steps Tuesday to beef up enforcement against marijuana cultivations while protecting those who grow pot for medicinal needs.

Supervisor Kevin Jeffries sought to "bring some common sense to this despite significant, conflicting laws between the state and the federal government.”

Jeffries singled out Mead Valley, Good Hope and Meadowbrook where hundreds of marijuana groves have sprouted up. He said many are commercial operations. Some residents worry that drug cartels are moving in.

The issue now shifts to the Riverside County Planning Commission.
