HEMET – (INT) - The Tuesday evening darkness may have contributed to a mishap near Hemet that killed two pedestrians.

The California Highway Patrol said a car struck both victims on Highway 74 at 8th Street in Valle Vista.

The coroner said Wednesday that Chloey Harris, 18, died at the scene. Kathy Whitehair, 65, died six hours later at the Riverside County Regional Medical Center.

Both victims were from Hemet.

The California Highway Patrol said weather was not a factor, that the victims were not in a crosswalk and were wearing dark clothing.
