Skies brighten for winter solstice
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – A warming trend will accompany the winter solstice Sunday pushing temperatures 10 degrees above normal through mid-week. Temperatures will cool for Christmas, but re-warming next weekend.

There is no rain in the 7-day outlook.

After four storms in almost as many weeks, the rainy season has become more than name only.

Forecaster Matt Shameson in Riverside says we’ve been getting them from two directions.

“They’ve come from the Gulf of Alaska. At the beginning of the month, there’s been a lot of sub-tropical moisture coming up from the southwest along the ‘Pineapple Express’”.

Shameson says the season to date has become the wettest in 4-years and in Riverside it’s twice the normal.
