Holiday parcel mail soars 12 percent
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – The US Postal Service is reporting a dramatic 12 percent increase in holiday package mail and the rate may be ever higher in Southern California.

Spokeswoman Eva Jackson says it’s the fastest year-over-year increase on record.

“We attribute it to on-line shopping and lower rates when compared to Fedex and the United Parcel Service.”

Outgoing 1st Class cards and letters should be in the hands of the Postal Service by Saturday to guarantee delivery by Christmas Day.

Letters and parcels going by priority express will be delivered on Christmas Day.
