Fleeing driver perishes in fiery crash
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – A wrong-way driver being chased by police was fatally injured early Friday when his truck ran off an Eastside street and struck a tree.

Officers were on DUI enforcement when they saw the truck going the wrong way on Lemon Street. The resulting chase hits speeds of 80 miles an hour before the fleeing motorist lost control on University Avenue at Eucalyptus Street.

The truck burst into flames. The fire department said the driver suffered burns over half his body. Mike Santoyo, 28, died later at a hospital.
