'Hobbit' debuts as movie favorite HOLLYWOOD - 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies' jumped off to a strong start at the nation's movie theaters.
It collected $90.6 million in its opening weekend. On other screens, 'Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb' and 'Annie' both suffered soft starts as the crucial year-end holidays gets underway. The films came in second and third on the top 10 chart. 'Exodus' placed No. 4 in North America, followed by 'The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1'.
