Spring spike may stop gas price free-fall
SOUTHLAND - (INT) – Cap-and-trade briefly interrupted a near-record consecutive, daily drop in gas prices. But, the downward trend continues.

Motorists are wondering for how long. Just ahead is the so-called ‘spring spike’. If it doesn’t happen, Marie Montgomery at the Auto Club says “That would break a 15-year streak of ‘spring spikes’. That would be a welcome surprise. But at this point, it’s a little doubtful that will happen.”

Southland pump prices are averaging $2.51 a gallon. That’s the lowest since mid-May of 2009.
