Rain has sub-tropical connection
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – January weather has developed a sub-tropical connection.

Forecaster Rob Krohn in Riverside says rain chances this week are coming from Baja California.

“The moisture source for us is unusual, in fact with a sub-tropical connection. Usually in January, we see cold core storms. The incoming one is different. That will mean snow levels well above the mountain resorts, 10-12,000 feet.”

Krohn says Southern California is in for a twin chance of showers this week. The first has passed followed by an instant replay Thursday.

Monday's rainfall averaged 2-tenths-of-an-inch in western Riverside County and one-fourth-of-an-inch in San Bernardino County.

Rainfall storm total to 6am Tuesday:

Riverside .23
San Bernardino .23
French Valley .50
Perris .32
Palm Springs .10
