Gunman slain in stand-off identified
SAN JACINTO – (INT) – A wanted felon suspected of killing a police dog was slain at the climax to a barricade situation.

Todd Hodge, 36, had holed up inside a residence on Clark Drive Wednesday afternoon.

The police K-9 named ‘Sultan’ was injured in a crawl space while searching for Hodge and died at a veterinary hospital.

A SWAT team flushed the suspect from underneath the home with tear gas. Sheriff’s deputies say Hodge was holding a handgun and was shot dead.

Investigators would not discuss Hodge's criminal background.

In Sacramento, Senator Jeff Stone (R-Riverside County) adjourned Thursday's session of the Senate in the memory of 'Sultan'.
