Riverside crime drops as economy improves
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – The city scored an improved 5.7 percent decrease in reported crime last year.

Murder, rape and aggravated assault rose. But, Lt. Mike Cook said that property crimes took the biggest drop.

“What we’re really encouraged about is the 2-year trend in the reduction in crime. 2014 had the biggest annual decline in 5-years. Historically, we know that as the economy improves that crime generally goes down.”

There were just over 11,000 reported crimes in the city last year, the fewest in 4-years.
