War film 'American Sniper' continues to make history HOLLYWOOD - Clint Eastwood's 'American Sniper' remains a phenomenon at the movies quickly becoming the No. 2 war film of all time at the North American box office.
In its first 10 days on the big screen, 'American Sniper' has eclipsed 'Pearl Harbor', and it will soon overtake the $216 million grossed by Steven Spielberg's 'Saving Private Ryan' in 1998. At the other end of the movie spectrum, Johnny Depp's newest film, 'Mortdecai', tanked in its launch. It was the actor's worst opening in the post-'Pirates' era. 'The Boy Next Door', starring Jennifer Lopez opened at No. 2. The film was a big draw among Hispanics.
