Bill seeks to expand recreation at Diamond Valley Lake
SACRAMENTO – Riverside County Senator Jeff Stone is challenging the Metropolitan Water District to open Diamond Valley Lake to swimming and other recreational opportunities.

Since its opening in 2003, the lake near Hemet has been restricted to fishing.

Stone says his first bill will fulfill promises made two decades ago when the MWD boasted about recreational facilities that were planned to surround the reservoir. Most never happened.

Stone’s legislation applies only to Diamond Valley Lake and not the MWD-owned Lake Mathews where recreation is also prohibited.
