Riverside council members vote themselves pay raise
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Salaries for City Council members and the mayor are going up for the first time in eight years.

Councilman Chris MacArthur cast the only ‘no’ vote.

“The present salary was fair. I don’t see any reason to increase salaries when I still have some of my constituents who are suffering through the remains of the Great Recession. I just didn’t feel it was appropriate.”

The council’s 5-1 vote was the first pay raise they’ve given themselves since 2007.

It amounts to $1920 a year for council members and $3840 for Mayor Rusty Bailey.
