COMPTON - Death Row Records founder Marion "Suge" Knight was arrested early Friday on suspicion of murder following a fatal hit-and-run incident.

The incident occurred during a promotional shoot for the upcoming NWA biopic 'Straight Outta Compton', about the Los Angeles rap group.

Police reports say a man matching Knight's description ran over two men with a red pickup truck and then hit them a second time while fleeing the scene.

Initially, Knight turned himself in for questioning, with his attorney stating that the rap mogul accidentally ran over and killed a friend and injured another man as he fled attackers.

Knight's attorney, James Blatt, maintains it was an accident. "He was in the process of being physically assaulted by two men and in an effort to escape he unfortunately hit two (other) individuals," the lawyer said. "He was in his car trying to escape." (Source: USA Today)
