Sheriff favors body cameras, opposes lawsuit
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Sheriff Stan Sniff is opposing efforts by the Riverside Sheriff’s Association to halt expansion of body cameras.

In its lawsuit announced last week, the RSA said the sheriff’s department had not negotiated wearing of the cameras by its deputies with the sheriff’s department.

In a statement, Sheriff Sniff points out that the cameras have long been in voluntary use in some of the department’s ‘contract’ cities.

Sniff contends the cameras will make everyone safer and may cut the number of false complaints about his deputies behavior.

Sheriff Sniff says he expects transparency and accountability by his department and all of its employees.
