Fiscal issues, safety concerns close police stations
INLAND EMPIRE--Police stations in San Bernardino and Redlands are closing.
Four San Bernardino police sub-stations will shut down this month as the result of funding cutbacks under the recently-adopted city budget. The Inland Center Mall station staff will lock their doors Monday and return to headquarters. Lt. Scott Paterson urges citizens to use their virtual offices online. “Go to the police department’s Web site. If they have any issue, they can go on the Internet and communicate that way.” In Redlands, the downtown police station is closed while the safety of the 47-year-old building is determined. The staff has moved temporarily to other city facilities. Story Date: September 2, 2010
