Winter rain, snow coming up short
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Recent storms have given Northern California a little drought relief, but it’s not much.

The largest reservoirs are about half-full, but the smaller ones aren’t doing so well.

Climatologist Alex Tardy at the National Weather Service says the mountain snowpack is only one-fourth of normal.

Eight percent of the state remains in an extreme or exceptional drought.

Tardy says that incoming storms next week may try to undercut the blocking high pressure that has brought record heat to Southern California this week.
