Desert chase covers two states, murder suspect slain BLYTHE – (INT) – A suspect slain at the climax to a bullet-punctuated chase along Interstate 10 was a suspect in a Sonoma County homicide. An accomplice survived.
Their rental car was spotted Saturday afternoon east of Coachella headed toward Arizona with the suspects shooting at passing vehicles. Attempts to disable the fleeing suspect’s vehicle using spike strips were futile until the pursuit reached Quartzsite, Arizona. There was a confrontation and a Riverside County deputy shot and killed one of the wanted suspects. The other surrendered. There were no injuries to law enforcement officers or citizens. KGO television in San Francisco identified the surviving suspect as Victor Silva, 27, of Greenbrae. Silva was wanted in connection with the slaying of Olga Dinelli. The 84-year-old woman was found dead in her home last Thursday. Story Date: March 4, 2015
