More state project water headed south
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – State water officials hope a slight 5 percent increase in deliveries along the State Water Project will help offset some economic harm of the extended drought.

The DWR says with allocations of 20 percent, there’ll be enough water to meet the needs of approximately 408,000 households for a year.

The improved allocation is still the second-lowest since 1991. Last year, it was only 5 percent.

Roughly 25 million Californians and nearly one million acres of irrigated farmland, mostly in Kern and Kings counties, depend upon state project water for at least some of their supplies.
