Few candidates emerge for Riverside City Council
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Voters are not likely to have many choices on the June ballot for four seats on the City council.

Councilmen Mike Soubirous and Chris MacArthur had not drawn any challengers just ahead of Friday’s deadline for candidates to quality.

Ward 1 Councilman Mike Gardner drew only one would-be challenger.

Ward 7 Councilman Steve Adams had not taken out any nomination papers as of mid-afternoon Friday. Adams was elected 11 years ago. Last year, he waged an unsuccessful campaign for Congress.

Small business owner John Burnard will be on the June ballot in Ward 7. The filing deadline for other potential candidates in Ward 7 has been extended to March 11th.
