Boating season replaces abbreviated ski season
BIG BEAR – (INT) – The winter ski season in the San Bernardino Mountains is over, abbreviated by ongoing warm weather and a lack of snow.

Bear Mountain and Snow Summit called it quits Sunday.

Snow Valley and Mountain High closed their ski facilities earlier this month.

The ski season opened in late November and peaked during the Christmas-New Year’s holidays. It was also cut short in the High Sierra, a victim of California’s prolonged drought.

Meantime, the East Boat Launch Ramp opened Wednesday for the season. The public boat ramp, which has been closed for the winter, gives boat owners the opportunity to launch onto the lake for boating and fishing.
