Two arrested for fraud and elder abuse
TWIN PEAKS - (INT) – Two suspects were arrested for conspiracy to commit a crime, theft by fraud, and elder abuse.

An 81 year old victim was contacted by telephone on March 18, and was told he was a winner of the Australian Lottery.

The subject over the phone told the victim he won $2,000,000 in cash and a new Mercedes Benz. The vehicle was to be delivered to the victim’s residence that day; however, he had to pay $1000 cash as a delivery fee.

Later, the same day, Larry Travis, 56, of San Bernardino, and LeShay Williams, 25, of Redlands, arrived at the victim’s residence to collect the money. The victim gave $300 cash to Travis, who took the money, but did not deliver the vehicle.

Travis left the scene, but the vehicle was never delivered. Neighbors of the victim wrote down the license plate number of the vehicle

It is believed the suspects were involved with an international ring of scammers who prey on the elderly. Deputies believe Travis and Williams may have victimized others with the same type of scam.
