Car catches fire after major traffic collision
SAN BERNARDINO - (INT) - A passenger car collided Tuesday on I-215 and Kendall Avenue with a dirt hauler causing major damage to the passenger car which started a fire in the engine compartment, according with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.

The driver and sole occupant of the passenger car appeared to be severely injured, and was drifting in and out of consciousness. The driver was pinned under the dash making an immediate rescue impossible.

The engine compartment of the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. Sgt. Fred Parrish who was responding to a call in Devore saw the collision that had just occurred, and extinguished the car fire.

Fire personnel arrived and had to use the "jaws of life" to extract the victim. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
