Green trail planning effort underway in Big Bear
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) - The Forest Service is initiating a National Environmental Policy Act analysis for the Green Trail project, which would authorize Big Bear Mountain Resorts to build and maintain an approximately 1.75 mile trail from the top of Snow Summit down to the existing Towne Trail near the base of the resort.

The proposed Green Trail would be suitable for low-intermediate mountain biking and other non-motorized uses.

In addition, an approximately 0.65 mile segment of the existing Hike-a-Bike trail would be re-routed to the Green Trail, and decommissioned.

Big Bear Mountain Resorts would be authorized to exercise exclusive use of this trail during operating hours of the Bike Park, and use during this time could be limited to down-bound mountain biking for Bike Park pass holders.

Outside of Bike Park operating hours, the trail would be open to non-motorized use by the general public in either direction.

Construction and opening of the trail is proposed for Spring 2015.
