Sheriff places 10 deputies on leave
HESPERIA - (INT) - Three sheriff’s deputies were hurt, but a suspected thief is in custody following a chase, partly by horse, into Hesperia.

Francis Jared Pusok, 30, of Apple Valley is accused of injuring the horse while riding along dirt trails, through very rugged, steep terrain into the Deep Creek Hot Springs area.

“The video surrounding this arrest is disturbing and I have ordered an internal investigation be conducted immediately”, stated Sheriff John McMahon.

Ten deputies have since been placed on paid administrative leave.

The American Civil Liberties Union said it is "deeply troubled by the video images that appear to show sheriff's deputies beating a man after he surrendered, and placing his hands behind his back.”(INT)
