Student arrested after threatening tweet
RANCHO CUCAMONGA - (INT) - A student from Alta Loma High School was arrested for possession of a weapon at school after posting a threatening message on social media.

On Monday, deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to Alta Loma High School after investigating Twitter posts from Andrew Riccardi, 18, of Rancho Cucamonga.

The Twitter posts stated “Well mom said I had to go to school better pop the trunk first”. This student posted this along with a photo of him holding what appeared to be a real gun.

After being arrested in front of his classmates, Riccardi admitted to the tweets and told deputies they were replica guns. However, the principal felt it was a credible threat and feared for the other students’ safety.

Riccardi’s parents are aware of the situation and gave deputies consent to search their residence. Riccardi’s father has gun safes that require fingerprint ID to open, so Andrew Riccardi does not have access to real firearms.

Riccardi was booked at West Valley Detention Center for possession of a weapon at school, and possession of nun-chucks that were located in his bedroom as well as the two large fixed blade knives that were found in his vehicle on campus.
