Report: Beaumont IE's fastest growing city SACRAMENTO – (INT) - California’s population grew by 358,000 last year to surpass 38.7 million, according to the latest estimates by the State Department of Finance.
The five, fastest growing cities were Taft, Sand City in Monterey County, Dublin in Alameda County, Imperial and Nevada City mostly because of recent housing increases. The Inland Empire’s fast growing city last year was Beaumont at 4 percent followed by Chino, Lake Elsinore, Montclair and Temecula and Eastvale, each at 2.5%. Growth was more widely distributed with most cities and counties throughout the state experiencing increases in population. San Joaquin and Imperial were the fastest growing counties. Prison declines caused some smaller cities, such as Norco and Tehachapi to experience significant proportional population losses in 2014. California's statewide housing growth, as measured by net unit growth in 2014, was up 17 percent with Los Angeles adding the most housing units. Story Date: May 4, 2015
