Equal pay for equal work bill passes Senate
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – Senate Republicans have led passage of a bill requiring equal pay for equal work for California women.

Riverside County Senator Jeff Stone admitted that SB 358 is a ‘tough’ bill. “We do have federal laws that prohibit such actions, but I can tell you the federal laws don't just go far enough because we still see and witness income disparity."

"I think it's shameful in this country and in this state. And so it makes it a much easier vote here today to vote for income equality based on your skills, education, qualifications, and not necessarily on your gender," Stone said.

Senator Stone is the Vice-Chair of the Labor and Industrial Relations Committee.

The bill passed out of the Senate chambers Tuesday with all 14 Senate Republicans voting in support of it.
